West Hartford, Conn. – The Framingham State University women's cross country team placed second and AIC captured the top spot at the St. Joseph's College Blue Jays Invitational run this morning in difficult conditions.  The course was shortened from 5K to just 2.75 miles because of flooding from heavy rain in Connecticut on Thursday and Friday.

The Rams top finishers crossed the line in 6th, 7th and 8th places led by senior Rachael Cooper (Framingham, Mass.) who finished in a time of 19:35.  Behind Cooper was sophomore Elena Cox (Rowley, Mass.) (19:59) and freshman Janet Brady (Whitman, Mass.) (20:09).

The next Ram to cross the line was freshman Shaina Howard (Bellingham, Mass.) who finished 13th in a time of 22:02 and just four spots behind was senior Diane Williamson (Orleans, Mass.) who crossed in a time of 23:13.  Rounding out the Rams runners was freshman Kendra Lohr (Southampton, Mass.) who completed the run in a time of 29:19.

The men's cross country team was off this week, but both the men and the women return to racing next weekend at the James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State University.
