Curry Defeats Women’s Soccer; 2-0

Framingham, MA – The Curry College women's soccer team grabbed a 2-0 victory against Framingham State on Wednesday evening, powered by an early goal and a resilient defense that shut down the Rams' offense throughout the match. 

THE BASICS: 

  • Score: Curry College 2, Framingham State 0 

  • Records: Curry (4-4-2), Framingham State (2-7-1) 

  • Location: Maple St. Field, Framingham, MA 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Curry struck early with a goal from Sarah Crusse, assisted by Maddie Resendes, at the 4:30 mark, giving them a quick 1-0 lead. 

  • Just before halftime, at 44:42, Mia Schena doubled Curry's lead with an unassisted goal, after a ball handling mistake by the Rams keeper making it 2-0 as the teams headed into the break. 

  • Framingham State tried to mount a comeback but was unable to break through Curry's strong defense. Despite having a couple of attempts on goal, Curry's goalkeeper Lexi Smardon stood firm, recording two saves to secure the clean sheet. 

  • Framingham State's goalkeeper, Madison Magone, faced heavy pressure from Curry's offense, making nine saves on 11 shots, but Curry's early goals proved decisive. 

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Curry held a slight advantage in shots (15-6) and dominated shots on goal (11-2). 

  • Framingham State had 3 corner kicks compared to Curry's 5, but couldn't convert any into scoring opportunities.
