Late Surge Leads Lasell Past Women’s Soccer

Framingham, Mass. Despite a great last second look, the Framingham State women's soccer team was defeated by Lasell University by a score of 2-1 in non-conference play Wednesday night in Framingham.  

THE BASICS: 

- Score: Lasell 2, Framingham State 1 

- Records:Framingham State (0-2), Lasell (1-1) 

- Location: Maple Street Field Framingham, Mass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Rams took the lead in the 18thminute when Abigail Pratt sent in a long strike from about 20 yards after gathering a 50/50 ball.  

  • The Lasers had a great look to tie a few moments later when Rams keeper Madison Magone made a nice save on a header off a corner kick.  

  • Lasell had another good look with about 10 minutes to go in the first half. Again, on a corner the kick was redirected toward the far post but a Rams defender was there to knock it away. The visitors regained possession and their shot was again saved by Magone.  

  • After controlling pace of play for most of the half Jordan Chatman knotted the game at one in the 84thminute when she dribbled around a defender and sent in a strike under the cross bar from about 18 yards out.  

  • With just over two minutes to play the visitors took the lead when Kendal Sniper finished off a great pass from Camdyn LaMarre in front of an open goal to give Lasell the lead.  

  • The Rams had an incredible chance as time was expiring in regulation when Megan McAuliffe sent in a perfect lead pass to Melissa Romeiro whose shot hit the crossbar. The deflection came to Cathryn Cooney who sent in a header that was knocked away by a Lasell defender.  

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Magone made eleven saves in the setback for the Rams while Elizabeth Da Silva turned away one shot in the win for the Lasers.  

  • The Lasers held a significant advantage in shots and corners. The visitors held a 19-to-9 advantage in shots and 12-to-1 margin in corners. 

UP NEXT: 

The Rams will travel to Clark on Saturday afternoon for a non-conference matchup with the Cougars. The Lasers will travel to Dean on Friday evening.
