Women’s Soccer Bests UMass Boston

Framingham, Mass.- The Framingham State women's soccer team defeated UMass Boston by a score of 2-1 in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon at Maple Street Field. With the win the Rams improve to 4-8-1 while the Beacons are now 4-9-2.

The Rams struck first in the 37th minute when Caitlin Our (Barnstable, Mass.) chipped in a shot over the keepers head off a pass from Kayla Almstrom (Auburn, Mass.).

The Beacons answered immediately when Jaclyn O'Grady (Somers, Conn.) moved her way through multiple Rams defenders and sent a long strike in past the Rams keeper.

The hosts took the lead in the 73rd minute when Casey Good (Dartmouth, Mass.) scored off a quick pass from Shelly Nardi (Williamsburg, Mass.) to go ahead 2-1.

Jennifer Stevens (Hopkinton, Mass.) made 3 stops in net for the Rams. Gigi Braga (Medford, Mass.) made 9 saves for the Beacons.

The Rams outshot the hosts 23-to13 and attempted two corners to the Beacons one attempt.

The Rams return to action on Thursday, October 19th when they host Becker College. The Beacons host Eastern Connecticut State on Friday, October 20th.
