Women’s Lacrosse Charges Past Colby-Sawyer 16-7

Panama City Beach, Fla. - The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team outscored Colby-Sawyer 11-0 in the second and third period as the Rams defeated Colby-Sawyer 16-7 this afternoon in non-conference action at The Spring Fling.

-Records: Framingham State (2-3), Colby-Sawyer (4-1) 

- Location: Publix Sports Park Panama City Beach, Fla.    

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams received six goals and three assists from Leah Green in the game, while Molly Lanier added five goals and an assist. 

  • Hailey Baker finished the game with a goal and four assists, while Maggie Grout finished with a goal and two assists. 

  • Isabella DiMare earned the victory in net making eight saves in a half of action, while Allison Wurms made seven saves in the second half. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Chargers grabbed a 2-0 lead just under three minutes into the game, but the Rams used a free position goal from Leah Green to cut the deficit to 2-1.  

  • After another Charger tally, the Rams used back-to-back goals from Alessia Lye and Green tying the game 3-3, but a late goal for the Chargers put them on top 4-3 after one. 

  • The Rams outscored the Chargers 5-0 in the second period to lead 8-4 at the half.  Molly Lanier scored three times in the frame and Green and Hailey Baker each found the back of the net once. 

  • The third period once again belong to the Rams as they held the Chargers scoreless and extended the lead to 14-4. Green tallied three in the period and Lanier added two of her own. 

  • The Chargers outscored the Rams 3-2 in the final period as the Rams secured the non-conference victory.

The Rams are back in action Wednesday when they face Endicott in Panama City Beach, Florida.
