Top Seed Women's Lacrosse Falls to Second Seed Westfield State in MASCAC Championship Game

Framingham, Mass. - The top seeded Framingham State University women's lacrosse team was defeated 11-6 by second seed Westfield State in the finals of the 2024 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Lacrosse Tournament this evening at Maple Street Field.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

• Senior Megan Bailey earned tournament MVP honors for the Owls after tallying a goal and an assist with seven draw controls and six ground balls. 

• The Owls took a 2-0 lead five minutes into the game after goals from Emma Prattson and Megan Bailey. 

• Hannah Guerin converted a free position shot with 8:48 on the clock cutting the deficit to 2-1, but the Owls closed the first with three straight and led 5-1 after one period. 

• Westfield pushed the lead to 7-1 with 12:46 to play in the second after goals from Kylie Buchanan and Natalie DeMaio.  

• Leah Green intercepted a pass near midfield and carried the ball into the zone and found the back of the net making the game 7-2 at the half. 

• The Owls got on the board first in the third period on a Prattson tally, but the Rams closed the period with goals from Brandi Core and Guerin to trail 8-4 after three. 

• The Rams struck first in the fourth on Hailey Baker marker, but the Owls countered with two straight to lead 10-5 with just over eight to play. Both teams would add a goal in the final two minutes to reach the final margin. 

• Kara Banagan made 12 saves for the Owls in net, while Isabella DiMare made seven saves for the Rams. 

• Molly Lanier tallied two goals for the Rams, while Guerin finished with a goal and two assists. 

• Buchanan paced the Owls with three goals, while Prattson finished with three goals and a helper.
