Plymouth State Holds Off Women's Lacrosse for 16-13 Victory

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

• The Rams opened the game with goals from Regan Fein, Leah Green and Hailey Baker to lead 3-0 midway through the first. Olivia Croke got the Panthers on the board with a goal with just under five to play in the quarter, but the Rams closed the frame with two straight and led 5-1 after one. 

• The two teams traded goals to start the second period, before Plymouth State scored four straight tying the game 6-6 with 3:18 on the clock. Fein converted a free position shot and Emily Santom found the back of the net with five seconds left to send the game to the half tied 7-7. 

• Plymouth opened the third quarter with a goal from Jenna Stowell, but the Rams responded with three straight to take a 10-8 lead with 9:32 on the clock. Plymouth closed the gap back to one, but Hannah Guerin converted off a Madison Skiff feed pushing the Rams lead back to two, 11-9. Plymouth closed the quarter with three in a row and led 12-11 after three. 

• The two teams traded goals to start the fourth quarter and Plymouth led 13-12 with just under 12 to play. Maddie Hunt tallied back-to-back goals for the Panthers putting the visitors on top 15-12 with 5:39 to play. Rachel Erickson tallied an unassisted goal to close the gap to two with just under five to play, but the Panthers added an insurance goal in the final two minutes to reach the final margin. 

• Guerin finished the game with five goals and two assists for the Rams, while Ericson scored three and grabbed three draw controls. 

• Fein finished the game with three goals and a helper with four draw controls, while Baker finished the game with a goal and an assist. 

• The Panthers were led by four goals and four assists from Emily Santom, while Croke finished the game with four goals and three assists. 

• Margie Black earned the victory in net making six saves, while Alexis Burleigh took the loss for the Rams but made nine stops.
