Women’s Lacrosse Runs Past Mass Maritime; 22-8

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team sailed out to an eight point lead at the half as they defeated Mass. Maritime 22-8 this evening on home turf in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action.

THE BASICS: 

- Score: Framingham State 22, Mass. Maritime 8

- Records: Framingham State (8-7, 5-1 MASCAC), Mass. Maritime (9-7, 2-4 MASCAC)

- Location: Framingham, Mass. – Maple Street Field  

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The Bucs jumped out to an early 4-0 lead with Lindsy Durgin, Cassie Llewellyn, and Alyssa DiScipio tallying first quarter goals.  
  • The Rams would close the first quarter with eight straight goals for the 8-4 lead.  The Rams received three goals from Leah Green and four from Rachel Erickson with an added goal from Tara Palermo.
  • The Rams tacked on seven more goals in the second quarter compared to the Bucs three leading the game 15-7 into the break. 
  • The Rams tacked on four more in the third quarter extending the lead to 19-7 with goals from Palermo, Hailey Baker, Regan Fein, and Kathryn Simpson.
  • With 0:26 on the clock, the Bucs scored a single goal to push the score 19-8 going into the final quarter.
  • FSU would add three in the final quarter with final quarter including the final goal scored by Fein finishing off an assist from Palermo to reach the final 22-8 margin

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Rachel Erickson and Tara Palermo finished the day with a handful of goals from each player. Erickson finished with a solid five goals followed by Palermo's four.
  • Baker, Green, and Hannah Guerin made three goals each and tallying nine assists between them for the Rams.
  • Molly Lanier and Simpson tacked on goals of their own, while Fein finished the game with two goals and five assists.
  • The Bucs received three goals from Alyssa DiScipio and two from Cassie Llewellyn.
  • Alexis Burleigh earned the win in net for the Rams and made six saves.
