Late Run Propels Conn. College to 15-12 Victory over Women's Lacrosse

New London, Conn. – The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team surrendered three goals in the game's final 3:04 as the Rams were defeated 15-12 by Connecticut College this evening in non-conference action at Silfen Field.

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The two teams traded goals in the game's opening three minutes before the Camels rattled off a 5-0 run to take a 6-1 lead with just under 15 minutes remaining in the first half.
• The Rams countered with a 5-0 run of their own over the final 15 minutes of the half to send the game to the break tied 6-6.  Juniors Audrey Duhaime and Nicole Pacheco converted free position shots on the spurt while sophomores Hanna McMahon, Jenna McMahon and Morgan Begley tallied a single goal apiece on the stretch.
• The Rams took the lead, 7-6, on a goal by sophomore Alissa Marino just over two minutes into the second half, but two straight from the Camels put the hosts on top 8-7.
• Marino tied the game again as she converted off an assist from junior Grace Gamache at 23:04, but three in a row for Conn. College pushed the lead back to 11-8.
• The Rams countered with three straight including tallies from Gamache, Pacheco and Hanna McMahon to knot the game at 11-11.
• Hannah Lombard put the Camels on top 12-11 at 12:36, but Gamache tied the game once again with an unassisted tally with just over six on the clock.  The Camels would seal the victory with the final three goals of the contest over the final 3:04.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Gamache paced the Rams with three goals and three assists in the game for six points, while Pacheco finished the game with two goals and a helper.  Hanna McMahon and Marino finished the game with two goals apiece.
• Senior Indigo Fox Tree-McGrath took the loss in net for the Rams despite making six saves.
• The Camels held a 17-12 edge in draw controls for the game, while the Rams collected 17 ground balls to just 13 for the Camels.
