Anna Maria Downs Women’s Ice Hockey; 2-0

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – The Anna Maria women's ice hockey team secured a 2-0 victory over Framingham State in MASCAC action on Saturday night at the New England Sports Center. 

THE BASICS: 

  • Final Score: Anna Maria 2, Framingham State 0 

  • Records: Anna Maria (7-11-1, 4-4-1), Framingham State (0-16-0, 0-10-0) 

  • Location: New England Sports Center – Marlborough, Mass. 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

1st Period: 

  • Both teams battled through a scoreless opening period. Anna Maria generated 11 shots on goal, while Framingham State responded with 8 of their own. 

2nd Period: 

  • Anna Maria broke the deadlock at the 6:36 mark when Carly Drew found the back of the net off assists from Emma McGuane and Olympia Myers.  

  • Just under three minutes later, Tessa Henry doubled the lead for Anna Maria with an unassisted goal at 9:22. 

3rd Period:  

  • Despite a strong push from Framingham State, including seven shots on goal, Anna Maria's defense and goaltending held firm to secure the shutout.

  • Anna Maria outshot Framingham State 38-27. 

  • Special teams played a role, as Anna Maria went 1-for-7 on the power play while Framingham State was 0-for-5. 

  • Both teams combined for 12 penalties, totaling 24 minutes.
