Carpenter Earns Academic All-American Honors
Framingham, Mass. – Framingham State senior guard Gwendolyn Carpenter (Ashley Falls, Mass.) has been selected to the 2023-24 Academic All-America® NCAA Division III women's basketball third team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced earlier this week.
Carpenter is a Biology (Pre-Health) major with minor in neuroscience who has earned a 3.99 GPA in classroom and has been on both the Dean's List and President's List every semester she was eligible. On the court, Carpenter was named MASCAC Co-Player of the Year as well as a NEWBA and D3hoops.com All-Region honoree.
Carpenter was the anchor for the MASCAC Regular Season Champion Rams who were 11-1 in league play this season. She averaged 9.5 points and 5.9 rebounds, but she made the biggest impact with her league-leading 194 assists, second-best free throw percentage at 82.6 and third-highest three-point percentage at 36.4. Her assists per game average of 7.4 led Division III and twice this season, she registered a triple double which is the third-most in Division III this season.
Carpenter is the Rams program record holder for assists in a season (194) and career (586).
The 2023-24 Rams finished the season with a school record 24 wins capturing the MASCAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships.
Carpenter is the first Ram to be honored as an Academic All-American since her former teammate and women's basketball standout Mary Kate O'Day was named to the second team in 2020.
