Velozo & O’Connor Earn MASCAC Weekly Awards

Framingham, Mass.- Framingham State senior Emily Velozo (Tewksbury, Mass.) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week and freshman Flannery O'Connor (Amesbury, Mass.) has been named MASCAC Rookie of the Week for the week ending December 15th.

Velozo averaged 26 points, 2.5 boards, two steals and 1.5 assists while shooting 56 percent (20-26) from the field and 53 percent (10-19) from beyond the arc in a 1-1 week for the Rams. She scored a career-high 37 points shooting 7-for-11 from long range over 26 minutes of play in the 85-56 win over Anna Maria College. Velozo added 15 points with four boards and two assists in an 80-69 loss to MIT.

O'Conner who collects her third rookie of the week honors this season averaged 14 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, a steal and assist in a 1-1 week for the Rams. She scored a career-best 24 points with seven boards and two steals in an 80-69 setback to MIT. Then added four points with six boards, two assists and three blocks in an 85-56 win over Anna Maria College.
