Softball Sweeps MASCAC Doubleheader with MCLA

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University softball team took game one 6-1 over MCLA before walking off with a 5-4 victory in game two of a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) doubleheader at Maple Street Field.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

Game 1: Framingham 6, MCLA 1 

  • In the opener, the Trailblazers took the early lead with an RBI ground out from Hailey Peabody. 

  • The Rams took the lead for good in the bottom of the inning on RBI singles from Eliza Carignan and Ellie Etemad-Gilbertson. 

  • The Rams extended the lead to 3-1 in the third on another RBI single from Etemad-Gilbertson. 

  • Isabella MacDonald added a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning and the Rams added two more in the fifth including a sacrifice fly from Ava Sillings to reach the final score. 

  • Audrey Gauthier earned the victory in the circle for the Rams going six innings, allowing one unearned run on two hits with no walks and six strikeouts. 

  • Etemad-Gilbertson finished the game 3-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI, while Brooke Grassia finished the game 3-for-4 with a run scored. 

Game 2: Framingham 5, MCLA 4 

  • In game two, MCLA used a sacrifice fly in their first at bat to take a 1-0 lead again. 

  • The Rams tied the game in the bottom of the second as they capitalized on a Trailblazer miscue. 

  • The Rams took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the eighth.  Brooke Grassia scored on an error on a steal attempt and Makayla Rooney and MacDonald added RBI singles. 

  • MCLA rallied to tie the game in the top of the seventh, but the Rams walked off with the victory in the bottom of the inning on a sacrifice fly from Jocelyn Pepe. 

  • Gauthier earned the victory in the circle by tossing 1.2 innings of releif allowing three earned runs with three strikeouts.
