Softball Splits with Bates and Wis.-River Falls

Clermont, Fla.  - The Framingham State University softball team split a pair of games with Bates and Wis.-River Falls today falling to Bates 3-0 before defeating River Falls 9-5 at Legends Way Complex.  

THE BASICS:

- Records: Framingham State (2-2), Bates (1-0), Wis.-River Falls (5-5)

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

Game 1: Bates 3, Framingham 0 

  • In the opener the Rams were held to just one hit, a double to left by Abigail Behrikis in the top of the third inning, as Delaney Rankin earned the complete game, shutout victory for Bates in the circle Rankin allowed just the one hit with four walks and 15 strikeouts. 

  • Bates took the lead in the bottom of the first plating a run on a wild pitch and added to the lead in the bottom of the second on a steal of home. 

  • Bates tallied the final run of the game in the third on an RBI double. 

  • Julianna Chisholm took the loss in the circle for the Rams going 1.1 innings allowing two earned runs on two hits with two walks and two strikeouts. 

  • Sydney Bednarz tossed 3.2 innings of relief allowing one earned run on four hits, while Audrey Gauthier tossed an inning of scoreless relief allowing just one hit. 

Game 2: Framingham 9, Wis.-River Falls 5 

  • The Rams fell behind early surrendering a run in the top of the first and three in the top of the third to trail 4-0. 

  • The Rams cut the deficit to 4-3 in the bottom of the third on an RBI base hit from Jocelyn Pepe and a two-run double from Eliza Carignan. 

  • An unearned run in the top of the sixth pushed the lead back to two for River Falls, but the Rams erupted for six runs in the bottom of the inning to take control of the game. 

  • Audrey Guathier earned the victory in the circle going six innings allowing five runs, three earned, on nine hits with five walks and five strikeouts.

The Rams are back in action tomorrow when they face Buffalo State and Fredonia at the Spring Games in Clermont, Florida.
