Softball Splits Two with Bridgewater State

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University softball team took game one of a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) doubleheader this afternoon by a score of 6-4 before the Bears walked off with a 4-3 victory in game two at Alumni Park..   

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Framingham State 6, Bridgewater State 4 
Bridgewater State 4, Framingham State 3 

- Records: Framingham State (6-8, 1-1 MASCAC), Bridgewater State (9-10, 1-1 MASCAC) 

- Location: ALumni Field Bridgewater, Mass. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

Game 1: Framingham St. 6, Bridgewater St. 4 

  • After a scoreless first, the Rams plated three in the top of the second on an RBI single from Ally Moran and a two run single from Makayla Rooney. 

  • The Bears used single runs in the second and third to close the gap to 3-2. 

  • The Rams plated three more in the top of the fifth opening a 6-2 lead. Brooke Grassia and Kelsey McGuill doubled home runs and Talia Duca added an RBI single. 

  • The Bears plated two in the bottom of the seventh to reach the final margin. 

  • Ally Moran earned the victory in the circle going seven innings, allowing four earned runs o 10 hits with five strikeouts. 

Game 2: Bridgewater St. 4, Framingham State 3 

  • After three scoreless innings, the Bears got on the board in the bottom of the fourth taking a 1-0 lead. 

  • The Rams responded with three in the top of the fifth on a bases clearing triple from Grassia. 

  • The Bears rallied for three in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with the victory. 

  • Caroline Hughes took the loss in the circle going seven innings, allowing four runs, two earned, on seven hits. 

  • Shelby Roode finished the game with two hits, while Grassia drove in three runs. 

 

UP NEXT: 

The Rams are back in action Saturday when they travel to MCLA for a pair of conference games beginning at 2 p.m.
