Wentworth Holds Off Men’s Soccer in 4-2 Win

Framingham, Mass. – Wentworth capitalized on key scoring opportunities to take a 4-2 victory over Framingham State in a competitive non-conference men's soccer matchup Tuesday afternoon in Framingham. 

THE BASICS: 

  • Score: Wentworth 4, Framingham State 2 

  • Records: Wentworth (6-3-2), Framingham State (0-7-2) 

  • Location: Maple Street Field – Framingham, Mass. 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Wentworth started strong, with Vinny Dentrone scoring on a free kick just under four minutes into the game to give the Leopards a 1-0 lead. Framingham State's defense held firm for the remainder of the half, despite Wentworth's pressure. 

  • Framingham State equalized in the 58th minute when Michael Jokic netted a goal with an assist from John Holt. 

  • Just minutes later, in the 62nd minute, Carlos Jimenez restored Wentworth's lead with an unassisted goal. 

  • In the 73rd minute, Kingston McGee extended the lead to 3-1 after receiving a pass from Dentrone. 

  • However, Wentworth sealed the game in the 89th minute, as Sam Wong scored from an Alex Burnham assist, securing the 4-2 win. 

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Framingham State outshot Wentworth 21-19, but the Leopards had better conversion in front of goal. 

  • Wentworth's goalkeeper, Noah Lawless, made 8 saves to secure the win, while Framingham State's Michael Walker had 7 saves. 

  • Wentworth had a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
