Framingham State Men’s Soccer Shut Out 3-0 by Salem State

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State men's soccer team fell 3-0 to Salem State in a conference match at Maple Street Field. Despite generating opportunities, the Rams were unable to find the back of the net, while Salem State's Vanilton Xavier netted two goals to lead the Vikings to victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Salem State opened the scoring early in the 4th minute when Vanilton Xavier netted his first goal off an assist from Matheus Pelissari.
  • The Vikings doubled their lead in the 58th minute when Charlie Goncalves scored, also assisted by Pelissari. 
  • Xavier sealed the victory with his second goal of the match in the 75th minute, assisted by Jonathan Diaz. 
  • Framingham State had eight shots during the game, with two on target, but Salem State's Erik Berg made both saves to maintain the shutout. 

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Framingham State goalkeeper Michael Walker made five saves on eight shots. 

  • Vanilton Xavier led Salem State with six shots, three on target, and two goals. 

  • Salem State held a 16-8 advantage in shots and a 6-3 edge in corner kicks. 

  • Both teams played a physical match, combining for 17 fouls and three yellow cards.
