Men’s Soccer Falls to Trinity 2-1

Hartford, Conn. Despite a late push, the Framingham State men's soccer team dropped a closely contested non-conference match against Trinity College by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday evening in Hartford, Connecticut. 

THE BASICS: 

- Score: Trinity 2, Framingham State 1 

- Records: Framingham State (0-1-1), Trinity (1-0-0) 

- Location: Trinity College - Hartford, Conn. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Trinity College took the lead in the 25th minute when midfielder Jack Murphy scored off an assist from Ian Spiro, finding the back of the net from inside the box. Murphy doubled Trinity's lead in the 32nd minute, netting his second goal of the match with a powerful strike. 

  • Framingham State responded quickly, narrowing the deficit to 2-1 in the 36th minute when forward Joao De Aquino capitalized on a defensive miscue to score his first goal of the season. 

  • Throughout the match, Trinity maintained offensive pressure, outshooting Framingham State 25-3. The Rams' goalkeeper, Timothy Singleton, made three key saves to keep the game close, including a critical stop in the 90th minute against Trinity's Kieran McCabe. 

  • Despite a late surge from Framingham State, they were unable to find the equalizer. 

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Trinity held a significant advantage in shots, outshooting the Rams 25-3. 

  • Trinity also had 14 corner kicks compared to zero for Framingham State. 

  • Trinity's Jack Murphy led the way with two goals, while Joao De Aquino netted Framingham State's lone goal.
