Framingham, Mass.-  Senior Jeff Braverman (Framingham, Mass.) headed a corner kick from Ken Stahovish (Springfield, Mass.) into the back of the net in the 68th to propel the Framingham State men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Emerson College in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon in Framingham.

Despite outshooting the Lions 10-to-6 in the first half the two teams went into the break scoreless. The Rams came out of the break quickly and nearly got on the board in the first minute of the frame when a Rams player sent a strike towards the net that Lions goalie Lucas Fischer (Atlanta, GA) deflected off the crossbar and the Rams rebound was blocked.

After Braverman's goal the Lions had a chance with just less than ten minutes in regulation when a Rams foul setup a free kick just outside the center of the box. The Emerson player's shot hit the wall of Rams defenders and was cleared out of the box.

The Rams had a chance for an insurance goal in the 86th minute but Simon Appiah's (Worcester, Mass) shot was saved by a diving Fischer to preserve the 1-0 score.

Josh Arno (Natick, Mass.) earned his sixth win in net for the Rams making four saves. Fischer made seven stops in the setback for the Lions.

The Rams outshot the Lions at a 24-to-14 clip and were called for 19 fouls to the Emerson 17.

The Rams return to action on Saturday, October 22nd when they host Mass. Maritime. The Rams will honor the four seniors playing in their final season prior to Saturday's contest.
