Men's Soccer Rallies for 3-2 Victory over Daniel Webster

Nashua, NH – A wild flurry that saw two lead changes and four combined goals in the final 17 minutes resulted in a 3-2 victory for the Framingham State University men's soccer team over host Daniel Webster in a non-conference men's soccer matchup Saturday at Eagle Field.

The host Eagles (2-2), who trailed 1-0 at the half, lost a player to a red card and were a man down at the 77:55 mark, but pulled together and rattled off two quick strikes 1:37 apart in the 76th and 78 minutes, respectively.

Chasen Congreves (Essex Junction, Vt.) knocked home an Ian Hutchinson (Litchfield, N.H.) corner kick feed and Marcos Vieira Filho (Pernambuco, Brazil) followed knocking in a Stephen Brown (Terryville, Conn.) pass with 12:50 remaining.

But the Rams (1-3) answered with a flurry of their own as Corey Sousa (Hudson, Mass.) tied it with 6:50 to go and Michael Bean (Paxton, Mass.) followed just 48 seconds later on a loose ball from 25 yards out for the eventual game-winner.

Cory Cardeiro (Fall River, Mass.) had given Framingham a 1-0 lead 13 minutes into the first.

DWC saw plenty of scoring chances, outshooting the Rams 30-9 (21-8 on goal) but were stymied by Ram goalkeeper Josh Arno (Natick, Mass.) who stopped 19 shots including 11 in the second half. DWC also hut itself being whistled for six yellow cards while Framingham was flagged for two yellows and a red to the team bench.

DWC keeper Cooper Hall (Heber City, Utah) finished with five saves in the Eagle debut.

The Eagles return to action on Monday when they visit New England College at 7:00 p.m., while Framingham State hosts Gordon on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
