Framingham, Mass. – MIT freshman Joshua Wilson (West Chester, PA/ Episcopal) broke a 1-1 tie in the 36th minute leading the MIT Engineers past the host Framingham State Rams 2-1 in a non-conference match-up under the lights at Maple St. field Tuesday night. The game was pushed up a day due to a poor weather forecast the rest of the week. With the victory the Engineers improve to 6-4-4 on the season while the Rams fall to 4-9-2.

Framingham State junior Cory Cardeiro (Fall River, MA/ BMC Durfee) scored in the 30th minute after an Engineer defender misplayed the ball which was recovered by Carderio. The junior played the ball past the MIT keeper who was out of position after the turnover.

The Engineers answered quickly just over 90 seconds later. After a Ram defender was called for a handball in the box and MIT was awarded penalty kick.  Junior Sean Bingham (Garden City, NY) converted the penalty kick for his team leading 11th goal.

The Engineers then took the lead for good in the 36th minute when Wilson sent a pass to Bingham drawing out the Rams' keeper. Bingham then set up Wilson for an open one-time shot to take the lead. Bingham was credited with an assist on the score.

The Rams best chance to tie the score was in the 52nd minute. A MIT player was called for a foul in the box and the Rams were awarded a penalty shot. Cardeiro sent a strike that was kick saved by MIT goalie Sam Cannon (Commack, NY) and smothered to end the threat.

Cannon made 4 saves in the victory for the Engineers. Sophomore Jacob Nichols (Sturbridge, MA/ Tantasqua) made 7 saves in 90 minutes in net for the Rams.

MIT hosts Springfield College on Saturday, October 25th at 1 p.m. The Rams will travel to Mass. Maritime on the same day for a noon start.
