Fitchburg, Mass. – Sophomore Romulo Carvalho (Milford, Mass.) tallied a goal and an assist to lead the Framingham State University men's soccer team to 3-0 win this morning over Fitchburg State in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Elliot Field.

Framingham State received a solid offensive effort from sophomore Carvalho who led all scorers with a game-high three points. Sophomore Ronaldo Vieira (Framingham, Mass.) and freshman Bryan DaSilva (Milford, Mass.) also added single goals in the win for the Rams, while junior Will Menter (Haverhill, Mass.) chipped in with a helper.

The Rams grabbed an early 1-0 lead midway through the first period as Vieira notched an unassisted marker in the 30th minute. DaSilva followed Vieira's score in the 44th minute, giving the Rams a 2-0 lead at the break with his first collegiate marker. DaSilva drilled a ball from the right flank and beat Falcon keeper Aidan Hanratty (E. Bridgewater, Mass.) to the low left side of the net for the two goal advantage.

In the second half, Framingham State iced the contest, scoring its third goal of the game in the 60th minute. Carvalho gave the Rams an extra insurance score, taking a feed from Menter and depositing it for his third goal of the season.

Despite falling 3-0 in the contest, Fitchburg State matched Framingham State shot for shot with 18 targets apiece, while also holding a 7-6 margin in corner kicks. In net, junior Sam Yoder (Southbridge, Mass.) finished with seven saves for the Rams and picked up his 6th shutout of the season, while Hanratty stopped nine shots in the complete game effort for the Falcons.
