Roger Williams Defeats Men's Soccer, 4-1

Bristol, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to five games, as the Hawks defeated visiting Framingham State University 4-1 Thursday evening in non-conference action.

The win improves Roger Williams to 5-0-1 on the season, while Framingham State drops to 0-3-1.

It did not take the Hawks long to get on the scoreboard, with Trevor Hoxsie (Scarborough, Maine) notching a score only three minutes into the game. Billy Kissane (Glastonbury, Conn.) served a pass to the left side to Daniel Caruso (Tewksbury, Mass.), who chipped the ball over to Hoxsie for the header in the center of the box.

The 1-0 score held until the 33rd minute, when Ronaldo Vieira (Framingham, Mass.) knocked in a putback off of a blocked shot by William Menter (Haverhill, Mass.) to tie the game at one apiece.

Roger Williams would respond with a goal just before the end of the half. Hoxsie scored his second goal of the game in similar fashion to Vieira, putting in a loose ball off of a shot on the right post in the 42nd minute.

The Hawks extended their lead in the 63rd minute on a penalty kick by Caruso. Caruso was taken down in the box trying to score, leading to a Ram foul and penalty attempt which he converted. Kissane added one more goal for the Hawks in the 72nd minute, putting in his third score of the year while getting assists from Josh Boyce (Peabody, Mass.) and Liam Isleib (Killingworth, Conn.).

Jon Pelloso (Wilbraham, Mass.) earned the win for the Hawks, making a pair of saves in the game. Billy Levitsky (Westford, Mass.) and Sam Yoder (Southbridge, Mass.) split time in net for Framingham State, with Levitsky making one save in the loss and Yoder stopping three shots in the second half.

Roger Williams will host Nichols College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. while Framingham State opens conference play as it takes on Massachusetts Maritime Saturday at noon.
