Men's Soccer Downs Suffolk, 3-0
Framingham, MA- Senior goalie Eddie Palomba (Saugus, MA) picked up his third shutout of the season to lead the Framingham State College men's soccer team to a 3-0 non-conference win over Suffolk University at Framingham's Maple Street Field today.
The Framingham State Rams (3-1-1) scored three times in the second half in a ten minute span to take the lead and put the game out of reach. Senior forward Rob Harvey (Lakeville, MA) struck first in the 62nd minute as he took a cross from junior Michael Jones (Norwood, MA) and found the back of the net for the game winner. Freshman Jason Silva (Milford, MA) added an unassisted goal in the 67th minute to push the FSC Rams lead to 2-0. Sophomore Jim Colombo (Littleton, MA) finished the scoring as he connected for his first goal of the season in the 71st minute of play.
Palombo faced nineteen shots on the day and made six saves en route to his third win of the season. This win is Palombo's 19th of his career at Framingham State which is a new career record. Palombo also holds the men's soccer record for career shutouts which now stands at thirteen.
Suffolk University goalie Jack DeJesus (Swampscott, MA) made six saves on the day as he picked up the loss.
The FSC Rams return to action on Saturday they begin MASCAC play at Fitchburg State for an 11 a.m. game, while the Suffolk Rams host St. Joseph's College (ME) at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
