Men’s Ice Hockey Skates to 2-2 Draw with MCLA; Wins the Shootout

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State men's ice hockey team battled to a 2-2 draw against MCLA in a MASCAC matchup Thursday evening at Loring Arena. Framingham State clinched the shootout victory in a thrilling shootout, 2-1. 

THE BASICS: 

  • Final Score: Framingham State 2, MCLA 2 (Framingham State wins shootout 2-1) 

  • Records: Framingham State (1-12-2, 0-7-1), MCLA (2-13-1, 2-6-1) 

  • Location: Loring Arena, Framingham, MA 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

1st Period: 

  • Both teams came out strong defensively, keeping the game scoreless despite some early chances. 

2nd Period:  

  • 7:08 – MCLA responded on the power play as Cade Herrera buried a shot, assisted by Shane Green and Quinn Murphy, tying the game at 1-1. 

3rd Period:  

  • 16:13 – MCLA quickly equalized when Connor Nagy found the back of the net, assisted by Sean Neu and Luke Rhoss, forcing overtime. 

Overtime/ Shootout: 

  • MCLA's Cade Herrera scored the first shootout goal, but Framingham's Scott Bugarin and Brent Scott converted their attempts, securing the victory for the Rams.

  • Cade Herrera: 1 goal (PP), 1 shootout goal

  • Penalty Trouble: Framingham State logged 21 penalty minutes, including a game misconduct. MCLA served just 2 penalty minutes.
