Salve Regina Bests Men’s Ice Hockey 9-0

Framingham, Mass. - Salve Regina earned a decisive victory against Framingham State on Friday night in the Rams opening game of 2025. The Seahawks controlled the game from start to finish, improving their record to 6-4-3, while the Rams fell to 1-7-1. 

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

1st Period: 

  • Salve Regina set the tone early with four goals in the opening frame. Jonathan Hammel scored the first goal at 3:40, assisted by Kaeden Tenkoppel.  

  • Shortly after, Arvega Hovsepyan netted an unassisted goal at 4:47.  

  • A power-play goal by Damon Zimmer at 8:14, with assists from Hovsepyan and Tenkoppel, extended the lead.  

  • Quinn Tavares closed the period with a goal at 15:12, assisted by Hovsepyan. 

2nd Period: 

  • The Seahawks added to their lead just 1:17 into the second period, as Matthew Brunton capitalized on assists from Tavares and Hovsepyan. Despite Framingham State's efforts, they were unable to find the back of the net. 

3rd Period: 

  • Salve Regina's offense surged again in the final frame, with four more goals.  

  • Tenkoppel scored on the power play at 00:20, followed by Tavares adding two more goals at 3:14 and 11:52, completing his hat trick.  

  • Braden Paquette finished the scoring at 15:46 with an unassisted goal.

  • Quinn Tavares: 3 goals, 1 assist 

  • Arvega Hovsepyan: 1 goal, 4 assists 

  • Kaeden Tenkoppel: 1 goal, 2 assists 

  • Selby Warren: 21 saves for the shutout 

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Salve Regina outshot Framingham State 55-21 and converted on 50% of their power plays (2-for-4).  

  • Framingham State struggled offensively and went 0-for-4 on the power play.  

  • The game saw a total of 11 penalties, with Salve Regina accruing 10 penalty minutes on 5 infractions, and Framingham State committing 6 penalties for 12 minutes.
