Men’s Ice Hockey Falls at Worcester State

Worcester, Mass. – The Worcester State men's ice hockey team defeated Framingham State by a score of 7-1 in MASCAC action Thursday evening at Worcester Ice Arena. With the win the Lancers remain undefeated at 4-0-0 (2-0-0 MASCAC). The Rams suffer their first setback of the season and are now 1-1-2 (0-1-0 MASCAC).

The Lancers won the opening faceoff took it down the ice and scored when Cody Weaver (Downers Grove, IL) sent in a long strike from the point with Mike Moran (Milford, Mass.) and Matthew Manning (Novi, MI) assisting just 23 seconds into the game.

The hosts scored again just a few moments later when Tim Drevitch (Oxford, NJ) scored with a helper from Nick Patullo (Doyleston, PA).

The Rams cut their deficit to one goal late in the first when Brandon Hamner (Waltham, Mass.) sent one home from Matt Siegel (Syracuse, NY).

The Lancers added three third period goals the first by Manning in the 10th minute of the period then Erik Pritchard (Cave Creek, AZ) got in on the action and Kyle Griffin (Marlborough, Mass.) scored the Lancers fifth tally with just over four minutes to play in the second.

The Lancers extended their lead in the third period when Pritchard scored about five minutes into the period and Moran capped the scoring near the ten minute mark to reach the 7-1 margin.

Worcester State controlled the pace of play outshooting the Rams 44-to-14. Worcester State was 0-for-4 on the power play, the Rams were 0-for-3.

Josh Reinstein (Woodland Hills, CA) made 13 saves in net for the Lancers. Greg Harney (East Haven, Conn.) turned away 24 shots for the Rams before being relieved by Adam Calabrese (Philadelphia, PA). 

 The Rams return to the ice on Saturday November 11th when they host Westfield State in MASCAC action. The Lancers travel to Salem State on the same day.
