Huge First Period Leads Ice Hockey Past Franklin Pierce; 7-1

Framingham, Mass. – Seven different Framingham State University hockey players scored goals as the Rams defeated Franklin Pierce by a score of 7-1 in non-conference action Thursday evening at Loring Arena. With the win the Rams move to 1-0-1 on the season. The Ravens are now 0-1.

The Rams scored in the opening minute when Matt Siegel (Syracuse, NY) found the back of the net to set the tone of the game. After a Walker Hamilton (Anchorage, AK) goal made it 2-0 Rams the Ravens registered their lone score of the night when Alex Lester scored with helpers from Jonathan Haun & Matthew Toombs.

FSU answered back less than 15 seconds later when Rob McLean (Burlington, VT) made it a 3-1 game just under 14 minutes into the contest. Brandon Hamner (Waltham, Mass.), Jack Sheehan (Norwood, Mass.) and Tom Crotty (South Hadley, Mass.) added scores to lead the Rams into the 1st intermission up 6-1.

Tyler Colacchio (Bellingham, Mass.) scored in the opening minute of the second period to cap the scoring.

Hamilton finished with a goal and two assists while Ryan Paul (Morgan, VT) had three helpers on the night for the Rams. 

Greg Harney (East Haven, Conn.) made 40 saves in the win for the Rams. Tom McGuckin took the loss in net for the Ravens turning away 8 shots before giving way to Austin Christopher who made 17 stops in the final 40 minutes.

The Rams return to the ice on Saturday, November 4th when they host Southern New Hampshire in non-conference action. The Ravens travel to Worcester State on the same day.
