Fourth Seed Men’s Basketball Advances to MASCAC Tournament Semifinals with Win over Fifth Seed Bridgewater State

Framingham, Mass. - The fourth seeded Framingham State University men's basketball team held off a late surge from fifth seed Bridgewater State as the Rams defeated with Bears 63-60 in one quarterfinal of the 2025 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Basketball Tournament at Logan Gymnasium. With the victory, the Rams advance to the semifinals where they will face top seed Westfield State in Westfield on Thursday night.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams were led offensively by a double-double of 20 points and 16 rebounds from Joshua Saint Jean, while Kyle Philistin finished the night with 17 points, five rebounds and three assists. 

  • Dyree Rogers chipped in with 12 points, three rebounds and two assists, while JD Okafor added eight points, six boards and two assists. 

  • The Rams started the game with a 9-0 run over the first four minutes fueled by five points from Saint Jean. 

  • The Bears countered with a 19-2 spurt of their own taking a 19-11 lead with 8:30 to play. The Rams closed the gap to six on Philistin bucket, but the Bears responded with a 9-0 run of their own pushing the lead to 28-13. 

  • The Bears led by as many as 16 before the Rams closed the half with six straight points to head to the locker room trailing 35-25. 

  • The Rams opened the second half with six straight points including a dunk from Saint Jean to close the gap to 35-31, but the Bears responded pushing the lead back to nine. 

  • The Rams chipped away at the lead and tied the score 45-45 on a Philistin three with 9:42 on the clock, but the Bears once again countered pushing the lead back to seven (53-46) with just under six to play. 

  • The Rams took control of the game with a 13-0 run over the next five minutes to lead 59-53 with 1:37 to go. 

  • The Rams led 61-57 after a Philistin layup, but the Bears countered with a three closing the gap to one (61-60) with 51.8 to play. 

  • On the next possession, the Bears fouled and Philistin sank two free throws, but the Bears had one final look at a three but it rattled out giving the Rams the victory. 

  • The game was the Rams' first home tournament game since the 2010 season.
