Men's Basketball Closes Regular Season with 65-60 Victory over Fitchburg State

Fitchburg, Mass. - The Framingham State University men's basketball team closed the regular season with a 65-60 victory over Fitchburg State this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Parkinson Gymnasium.  The Rams season will continue next week in the MASCAC Tournament with pairings announced by the league office later today.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams were led by forward Joshua Saint Jean who narrowly missed a double-double. Saint Jean tallied a game-high 29 points on 13-of-15 from the field and added nine rebounds, an assist and two blocks. 

  • Kyle Philistin was the only other Ram in double figures as he tallied 13 points with five rebounds, three assists and two steals. 

  • Dyree Rogers and Makyle Hayes finished with five points apiece, while Adonis Vashon tallied six points and five rebounds off the bench and came up with a key steal in the final minute of play. 

  • The first half started with multiple ties and lead changes before the Rams used a 7-0 run opening a 17-10 lead with seven minutes to play. The Falcons countered with a run of their closing the first half leading 28-27. 

  • The Rams opened the second half with a 10-0 run capped by a Saint Jean dunk to lead 37-28 with 15:24 on the clock. The Rams pushed the lead to as many as 11 before the Falcons used a late run to pull within one, 61-60, with 1:09 to play. 

  • A three point play from Saint Jean pushed the Rams lead back to four (64-60) with 42 seconds left. The Rams defense received a steal from Adonis Vashon on the ensuing Falcon possession and Philistin sank one of two from the line to secure the victory.
