Men's Basketball Falls to Fitchburg State in MASCAC Action

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University men's basketball team was defeated at home 67-54 by Fitchburg State University this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Logan Gymnasium.

-Records: Framingham State (9-10, 3-3 MASCAC), Fitchburg State (5-14, 2-4 MASCAC)

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • Kyle Philistin led the way for the Rams with 16 points on 5-of-13 from the floor to go along with five rebounds, three assists and two steals. 

  • Joshua Saint Jean was the only other Rams with double figures as he tallied 10 points on 2-of-4 from the floor and added seven rebounds, two assists and two steals. 

  • Dyree Rogers chipped in with seven points off the bench, while JD Okafor tallied six with four rebounds. 

  • The Falcons jumped out to a 7-2 lead just over four minutes into the game, but the Ram chipped away tying the game at 19-19 on a pair of Saint Jean free throws with just over six minutes in the half. 

  • Fitchburg retook the lead but a three from Chance Wells tied the score at 24-24 with 4:26 on the clock. The Falcons used a 10-3 run pushing the lead to 34-27 before taking a 36-29 lead into the locker room. 

  • The Rams opened the second half with a 5-0 run closing the deficit to 36-34, but the Falcons countered with a 17-1 spurt taking a 53-35 lead with 8:48 on the clock. 

  • The Rams chipped away at the lead and pulled within 10, 59-49, on a Ja'AQuin Taylor three pointer with just under five on the clock, but the Falcons were able to maintain the double digit lead and secure the victory.
