Men's Basketball Uses Second Half Surge to Defeat Lesley 78-68

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University men's basketball team used a second half 18-0 run to erase a double digit deficit and take the lead for good as the Rams defeated Lesley University 78-68 this afternoon in non-conference action at Logan Gymnasium.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams received 18 points apiece from Adonis Vashon and Kyle Philistin.  Philistin added eight boards, an assist and a steal, while Vashon added five rebounds, an assist and a steal. 

  • Korbin Gann chipped in with 13 points and five rebounds off the bench as he connected on 3-of-6 from behind the arc, while Marshall Kerley finished the game with 10 points. 

  • Joshua Saint Jean just missed a double double as he scored nine points and grabbed 13 board, while Makyle Hayes finished with seven points, four rebounds and 11 assists. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Lynx jumped out to the early lead, but the Rams closed the gap to two, 17-15, on a Kyle Philistin three with 12:11 on the clock.  The Lynx responded with a 13-3 spurt to lead 30-18 with just over five to play, but the Rams chipped away at the lead and trailed 36-30 at the half. 

  • Lesley pushed the lead to ten points to start the second half, but the Rams used an 18-0 run capped by a Makyle Hayes bucket to claim a 48-40 lead. 

  • The Rams built the lead to as many as 22 (67-45) on a pair of Hayes free throws with 6:31 to play, but the Lynx used a run of their own to close the gap to 72-66 with just over a minute to play. The Rams held on for the victory as they went 6-for-6 from the line down the stretch.
