MCLA Cruises to a 58-40 Win Over Men’s Basketball

Framingham, Mass.. – The MCLA men's basketball team used a balanced attack to defeat Framingham State by a score of 58-40 on Thursday evening in MASCAC action. With the win the Trailblazers improve to 6-11 and 3-3 in MASCAC play. The Rams are now 5-14 and 1-5 in the conference.

The Trailblazers were paced by a pair of ten-point performances by seniors Keiland Cross (Pittsfield, Mass.) and Adam Conquest (Gardner, Mass.). Victor Stewart (Boston, Mass.) led with a team-high eight rebounds as the visitors received 25 points off the bench.

The Rams offense lead by a 13-point showing from Manny Payton (Fitchburg, Mass.) and 12 points from Cameren McCloud-Thomas (Springfield, Mass.) who also added a team-best seven rebounds.

After a slow start for both sides the Trailblazers took a ten-point lead into the break after a Tanner Owens (Long Beach, NY) layup in closing seconds of the frame. After clinging around a ten-point margin through most of the half the Trailblazers put the game away after a 14-5 run capped by a Conquest layup with around two minutes to play in regulation.

The visitors shot 44.8 percent from the floor and 14.3 percent from long-range while the Rams were 29.3 percent from the field and just 8.7 percent from beyond the arc.

The Rams are back in action on Saturday afternoon when they host Fitchburg State for a MASCAC game beginning at 3 p.m., while the Trailblazers travel to Westfield State on Saturday for a MASCAC contest at 3 p.m.
