Field Hockey Picks Up MASCAC Win at Salem State

Salem, MA – The Framingham State field hockey team capitalized on their scoring opportunities to secure a 3-1 win against Salem State at Alumni Field on Saturday afternoon. The Rams improved to 3-4 in conference play, while the Vikings remain winless in league action. 

THE BASICS: 

Score: Framingham State 3, Salem State 1 

Records: Framingham State (5-8, 3-4), Salem State (2-11, 0-7)

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Rams doubled their lead early in the second period with an unassisted goal from Cadena, who finished off a solo effort at the 16:57 mark. 

  • Salem State cut the deficit to 2-1 just before halftime, as Isabella Alcaraz converted a pass from Aleena Frith at 23:01.  

  • The Rams, however, responded in the fourth period with an insurance goal from Natalia Roehr, who scored unassisted at the 45:51 mark to seal the victory.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Shots: Framingham State dominated offensively, recording 21 shots (20 on goal), while Salem State managed just 4 shots (2 on goal). 

  • Saves: Salem State's goalie, Izzy Mosley, made 15 saves to keep her team in the game, while Framingham's Kaitlyn Tello registered 1 save for the win. 

  • Penalty Corners: The Rams earned 10 penalty corners, while Salem State did not earn any.
