Field Hockey Edges Bridgewater in MASCAC Play

Bridgewater, Mass. – The Framingham State field hockey team secured a thrilling 2-1 win against Bridgewater State in a key MASCAC matchup on Tuesday evening.  

THE BASICS: 

Score: Framingham State 2, Bridgewater State 1  

Records: Framingham State (3-4, 2-1), Bridgewater State (3-5, 1-2) 

Location: Mazzaferro Field, Bridgewater, MA 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Framingham State struck first, with Angelina Serra scoring an unassisted goal at the 6-minute mark to give the Rams a 1-0 lead.  

  • Bridgewater State responded just before the end of the first quarter with Lexi James netting a goal, assisted by Taylor Carter, to tie the game 1-1. 

  • After a scoreless second quarter, Framingham State regained the lead in the third quarter when Natalia Roehr scored her first goal of the season off an assist from Kaylee Beck at 31:18, putting the Rams up 2-1. 

  • Despite Bridgewater State's constant pressure, Framingham State goalkeeper Kaitlyn Tello had a standout performance, making 12 saves to keep her team in the lead. Bridgewater State had a total of 23 shots, 13 of which were on goal, but couldn't break through Tello's strong defense in the fourth quarter. 

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Bridgewater State had a 23-8 advantage in shots and a 13-5 edge in penalty corners, but Framingham State capitalized on their opportunities to secure the win. 

  • Framingham State goalkeeper Kaitlyn Tello made 12 saves to earn her first win of the season.
