Field Hockey Blanked at Eastern Connecticut

Willimantic, Conn. – Eastern Connecticut State secured a 2-0 victory over Framingham State in a hard-fought field hockey match on Wednesday afternoon at Rick McCarthy Field. Goals from Kaylee Drobish and Sophie Ash in the first half lifted Eastern Conn. St. to their fourth win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Eastern Conn. St. got on the board early, with Kaylee Drobish netting her third goal of the season at 9:56 off a cross from Grace Barlage, placing the shot in the back of the net. Sophie Ash added to the lead in the 24th minute, capitalizing on a setup by Drobish. 

 
  • Framingham State struggled to generate offense, managing just 5 shots, with only 2 on goal, both saved by Eastern Conn.'s defense.

Framingham's goalkeeper Rowan Whittaker put in a strong performance with 12 saves, keeping the game within reach. However, Eastern Conn.'s defense, anchored by Veronica McKenna, Kiana Webster, and Hannah Jalowiec, held firm and preserved the shutout.
