Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State field hockey team got in the win column with a 1-0 win over Rivier in non-conference play Tuesday evening in Framingham.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

After a scoreless first period the Rams opened the scoring in the 25th minute when Ashley Malmquist sent in a cross from Natalia Roehr to put the Rams ahead 1-0.

Another scoreless third quarter the Raiders looked to have scored with about 11 minutes to go but the goal was waved off for hitting an offensive player's leg.

The Raiders had a few looks in the final moments but couldn't find the tally to even up the score.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Framingham State's goalie Rowan Whittaker made three saves in the shutout while Kylie Coupal made five saves in goal for the Raiders.
The Rams outshot the visitors 20-to-13 in the contest and were awarded 16 penalty corners to the Rivier eight.

The Rams return to action on Friday, September 20thwhen they open MASCAC play at Fitchburg State. The Raiders will host Albertus Magnus on Saturday at 1pm.
