Bridgewater Swings Past Baseball 17-11

Bridgewater, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team was defeated 17-11 by Bridgewater State University this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action Alumni Park. 

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Bridgewater State 17, Framingham State 11 

-Records: Framingham State (2-14, 1-2 MASCAC), Bridgewater State (10-7, 2-1 MASCAC) 

- Location: Alumni Park Bridgewater, Mass.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Bears jumped out to a 3-0 lead with a run in the second and two in the third. 

  • The Rams plated a six spot in the third inning taking a 6-3 lead. Massimo Mondi doubled home a pair of runs and JC Espinal plated a pair with a single to right. Lucas Basil capped the inning with a two-run single. 

  • The Bears answered with nine runs in the top of the fourth and added a single run in the sixth taking a 13-6 lead. 

  • The Rams pushed five more runs across in the bottom of the sixth closing the deficit to 13-11.  Johnny Lynch scored the first run on a wild pitch and Roscoe Palmer followed with an RBI ground out.  Chistian Cox launched a two run home run to right field and Dane Frellick added an RBI single up the middle. 

  • The Bears added four runs in the seventh to reach the final score. 

  • Javier Lopez took the loss on the mound for the Rams going 3.1 innings, allowing 11 earned runs on nine hits with five walks. 

  • Mondi and Basile each finished the game 3-for-5 with two RBI, while Cox and Espinal drove in a pair of runs apiece.

The Rams are back in action Wednesday when they travel to Gordon at 3 p.m.
