Baseball Falls to Salem State

Salem, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team was defeated 16-1 by Salem State University this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Central Campus Field.   

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Salem State 16, Framingham State 1 

- Records: Framingham State (10-14, 8-5 MASCAC), Salem State (15-12., 8-7 MASCAC) 

- Location: Central Campus Field Salem, Mass. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams got on the board first in the top of the third inning on a solo home run from Daniel Robichaud. 

  • The Vikings took the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth with a pair of runs and extended the lead to 6-1 in the bottom of the fifth. 

  • The Vikings, who took advantage of six Framingham errors in the game to score eight unearned runs, added seven runs in the seventh and three more in the eighth to reach the final margin. 

  • Robichaud finished the game 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored, while Ryan Boyle and Shane Costello added two hits apiece. 

  • Adam Martin took the loss on the hill for the Rams going five innings, allowing six runs, two earned, on nine hits with six strikeouts.
