Bridgewater State Takes Two from Baseball

Bridgewater, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team dropped both ends of a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) doubleheader by scores of 3-2 and 13-5 to Bridgewater State at Alumni Park.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

Game 1: BSU 3, FSU 2 

  • The Rams took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning on a solo home run to leftfield off the bat of Shane Costello. 

  • The Bears grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fifth after a two run home run and an RBI double. 

  • The Rams threatened in the top of the seventh, loading the bases with one out. Costello worked a walk pulling the Rams within one, but Bridgewater State was able to record a pair of strikeouts to secure the victory. 

  •  Ryan Boyle finished the game 3-for-3 with a double, while Costello finished the game 1-for-1 with a run scored, an RBI and three walks. 

  • Vincent LoGuidice took the loss on the mound for the Rams, going five and two thirds allowing three runs, one earned, on eight hits. Daniil Rye tossed a third of an inning of scoreless relief. 

Game 2: BSU 13, FSU 5 

  • Bridgewater State jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first and extended the lead to 9-0 after four innings. 

  • The Rams plated four runs in the top of the fifth inning. Costello chipped in with an RBI single and Lucas Basile added a two run double. Boyle capped the inning with an RBI infield single. 

  • Bridgwater answered in the bottom of the inning with four more pushing the lead to 13-4. 

  • The Rams added an RBI single from JC Espinal in the top of the seventh to reach the final margin. 

  • Boyle once again went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while Costello went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. 

  • Cameron Prescott took the loss, going three innings allowing eight runs, five earned, on seven hits with four strikeouts.
