Derosier Hits Three Homeruns as Baseball Defeats Plymouth State

Plymouth, N.H. – Senior Billy Derosier (Shrewsbury, Mass.) hit three home runs and drove in five Friday afternoon as Framingham State University spoiled Plymouth State University's home opener with a 13-5 victory in non-conference baseball action at Panther Park.

Derosier clouted a two-run blast in the first inning to help the Rams to an early 3-0 lead. Senior John Gill (Hudson, Mass.) delivered a two-run single in the second inning to make it 5-0. After PSU got on the board with a run in the last of the second on an RBI double by sophomore Eric Leitch (Lanesboro, Mass.), Framingham tacked on three runs in the third inning to blow the game open.  Derosier added his second home run, a solo shot to right, and junior R.J. Gray (Lowell, Mass.) added a two-run single to center.

PSU scored its second run in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by senior Justin Walsh (Goffstown, N.H.). Framingham added three more runs in the seventh inning and two in the eighth.  Freshman Jordan Pallazola (Rockport, Mass.) singled up the middle in the seventh to score two runs and Gray brought home a run with a sacrifice fly.  Derosier cracked his third home run of the day in the eighth with a man aboard.

The Panthers added two runs in the last of the seventh as junior Jake Broom (New London, N.H.) singled to left to drive in a run and classmate Dave Hall (Groton, Conn.) delivered a sacrifice fly. PSU rounded out the scoring in the ninth on an RBI groundout by freshman Cam Ruziak (Sterling, Mass.).

The PSU offense had five players with two hits apiece – Hall, Leitch, Ruziak, Walsh and sophomore Jarek Krajewski (Cranston, R.I.). Seniors Mark Mainini (Hull, Mass.) and Ivan Colon (Waltham, Mass.) collected two hits each for the winners.

Junior Dillon Corliss (Winterport, Maine) earned the victory for the Rams, pitching eight innings and allowing just four runs (two earned) to improve his mark to 3-4. Sophomore lefty Connor MacRae (Newburyport, Mass.) started and lasted three innings for PSU and took the loss.

PSU is home again Saturday, hosting the University of Southern Maine in a Little East Conference doubleheader beginning at noon. Framingham State returns home to host Worcester State Saturday in a MASCAC twin bill at 1 p.m.
