Women's Cross Country Takes Top Spot at Blue Jays Invitational

West Hartford, Conn. – The Framingham State University women's cross country placed runners in the top three spots en route to taking top honors at the University of Saint Joseph (CT) Blue Jay Invitational this morning.

Junior Elena Cox (Rowley, Mass.) took top honors finishing the 5K course in 21:17.  Crossing the line behind Cox was freshman Emma Hazen (Framingham, Mass.) in 22:00 and sophomore Janet Brady (Whitman, Mass.) who crossed the line at 22:10.

Freshman Jenna Anan (Littleton, Mass.) also placed in the top ten crossing the line in seventh in a time of 24:38. Junior Monique LaPierre (Ludlow, Mass.) crossed next for the Rams in 26:27 and was followed by freshman Philomena Nessralla (Marshfield, Mass.) at 26:40.  Rounding out the Rams finishers were junior Renee Zackular (Saugus, Mass.) (27:22) and freshman Fiona Coughlan (Quincy, Mass.) (28:48).

The Rams took the team title with 25 points, while MASCAC rival MCLA placed second with 32 points. Rounding out the field was the hosts in third place with 85 total points.

The Rams return to action next Saturday morning at the James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State University.
