Men’s Cross Country Places Fifth at Southern Vermont

Bennington, VT – The Framingham State University men's cross country team placed fifth at the Southern Vermont College Mountaineer Invitation on Saturday afternoon.     

The Rams captured fifth place with 123 total points, while SUNY Canton took top honors with 39 points.  Paul Smiths came in second (64 points) followed by Hudson Valley (71 points) and Green Mountain (89 points). Rounding out the team scoring was Southern Vermont with 129 points.

The Rams top finisher was senior Greg Hartwich (Holliston, Mass.) who placed 17th in a time of 34:27 for the 8K course.  Hartwich was followed by Robert Wheeler (Ashland, Mass.) in 20th in a time of 35:42.

Freshman Ben Martin (Chelmsford, Mass.) crossed next for the Rams in a time of 36:24 and was followed two places behind by junior Chris Baza (Milford, Mass.) in at 36:40.  Rounding out the Rams runners were sophomore Mike Merola (Framingham, Mass.) (39:48) and freshman Thomas Rainsford (Holliston, Mass.) (57:49.

The men's cross country team is off next weekend, but returns to action on Saturday, October 6th at the James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State University.
