Cross Country Wins Men’s & Women’s Races at YSCC

Concord, N.H. – The Framingham State University women's and men's cross country teams captured top honors at the YSCC Cross Country Championship hosted by NHIT on Saturday morning. 

Sophomore Elena Cox (Rowley, Mass.) led the women's team with her second place finish, while freshman Janet Brady (Whitman, Mass.) placed third.  Cox crossed the finish line in 23:37, while Brady completed the 5K course in 23:45.  Senior Michelle Korn (Cortlandt Manor, NY) placed 8th in 25:14, while freshman Shaina Howard (Bellingham, Mass.) placed 11th in 26:27.  Rounding out the finishers for the Rams were senior Diane Williamson (Orleans, Mass.) (28:53), sophomore Monique LaPierre (Ludlow, Mass.) (29:14) and sophomore Susan Enright (Haverhill, Mass.) (29:20).

The men's team was led by freshman Joseph Schow (Southboro, Mass.) who placed 3rd in a time of 26:56 for the 8K course.  Behind Schow in 14th was junior Greg Hartwich (Holliston, Mass.) who crossed in a time of 28:56.  Rounding out the men's finishers are Colin Mettey (Holyoke, Mass.) (30:46), Mike Merola (Framingham, Mass.) (32:47) and Constantino Panullo (Medford, Mass.) (40:20).

Both teams return to action next Saturday at the Alliance/MASCAC Championships hosted by UMass Dartmouth.
