Cross Country Competes at Worcester City Meet

Paxton, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's cross country team placed 4th in the women's race and the men's team also placed fourth in their race as WPI captured the top spot in both races at the Worcester City Meet that was run at Moore State park this morning in grueling conditions. 

The women's team was once again led by senior Rachael Cooper (Framingham, Mass.) who placed 14th overall in a time of 22:05.  Right behind in 22nd and 23rd places respectively were freshman Janet Brady (Whitman, Mass.) and sophomore Elena Cox (Rowley, Mass.) who each completed the 5K muddy course in 22:55.  Rounding out the Rams finishers were senior Michelle Korn (Cortlandt Manor, NY) in 35th (24:51), freshman Shaina Howard (Bellingham, Mass.) in 42nd (25:49), senior Diane Williamson (Orleans, Mass.) in 45th (27:12) and freshman Kendra Lohr (Southampton, Mass.) in 54th (33:23).

On the men's side freshman Joseph Schow (Southboro, Mass.) was the Rams top finisher in a time of 30:43 for the five mile course.  Schow was followed by senior Joe Jarvis (Hopedale, Mass.) (33:28) and juniors Greg Hartwich (Holliston, Mass.) (33:47) and Alex Martin (Boylston, Mass.) (34:59).  Rounding out the Rams finishers on the men's side are freshman Mike Merola (Framingham, Mass.) in a time of 38:38 and sophomore David Simao (Ludlow, Mass.) who crossed the line at 49:18.

The men's cross country team if off next weekend, while the women compete at Blue Jay Invitational hosted by St. Joseph's College in Connecticut.
