Cross Country Has Strong Showing at Travis Fuller Invitational

Buzzards Bay, Mass. - The Framingham State College cross country team received strong individual performances in their first meet of the season today at the Fifth Annual Travis J. Fuller Invitation hosted by Massachusetts Maritime Academy.  The course runs alongside the Cape Cod Canal on Mass. Maritime's campus.

Emmanuel took the team title on the women's side with a score of 62 points, while Merchant Marine was second with a team score of 70 points to claim the inaugural Maritime Cup with Mass. Maritime.

On the men's side the Mass. Maritime Buccaneers took top team honors posting a team score of 48 points while also claiming the inaugural Men's Maritime Cup.  Merchant Marine finished second with a team score of 57 points, while Emmanuel came in third with 73 points.

The Rams top finisher on the women's side was sophomore Michelle Korn (Cortlandt Manor, NY) who finished in a time of 24:23.  She was followed three places behind by Valbona Saliu (Worcester, MA) who finished in a time of 24:35.  Junior teammate Allison Wooler (New Bedford, MA) finished in a time of 28:27.

The Rams top finisher on the men's side was freshman Nick Magliozzi (Attleboro, MA) who finished 35th in a time of 33:15.  The Rams only other runner in the men's race was fellow freshman Greg Hartwich (Holliston, MA) who finished in a time of 34:04.

Both teams return to action next weekend at the Hawks Invitational at the University of Hartford.
