Saliu Runs Personal Best at James Earley Invitational
Westfield, Mass. - Senior Kerry Arouca placed first individually
and Southern Maine took the team title at the 14th Annual James
Earley women's cross country invitational at Stanley Park on
Saturday, Oct. 10.
Arouca, finished the 5,000 meter course in 18:57.49 to easily
outdistance Southern Maine's Carly Dion, who placed second in
19:23.92.
There were 266 runners and 25 teams participating in the popular
invitational. Southern Maine placed first with 58 points, followed
by Westfield State (88), and Trinity (116).
The Rams top finisher was Valvona Saliu (Worcester, Mass.), who
took 1:30 off her previous best 5,000 meter time, finished in
24:37, while teammate Michelle Korm (Cortlandt Manor, NY) finished
at 25:50.
The Rams are off until October 24th when they return to Stanley Park for the 2009 Massachusetts State College Athletics Conference (MASCAC) cross country championships.
