Duquette Runs Personal Best at WNEC Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, MA - Brian Mulwo of American International College placed second among 129 runners to lead the Yellow Jackets to the team title at the WNEC Men's Cross-Country Invitational Saturday (Oct. 18). He covered the 8,000-meter campus course in 26 minutes, 31 seconds. Teammate Matthew Hegarty took fourth (26:53.3).

Running unattached, Victor Kembol placed first (25:08) with John Pomeroy of Norwich third (26:44) and Caleb Evanter of Clark fifth (27:12).

Host Western New England College had a strong performance finishing third among the 16 teams. Freshman Jeff Wagner (Norwalk, CT) was 10th (27:59) with junior Tucker Jones (Bowdoin, ME) 11th (28:10).

The WNEC Alumni Team came in 12th with Nate Soule '08 (Nashua, NH) coming through the finish line in 37th place (29:58).

Framingham State was led by freshman Drew Duquette (Holyoke, MA) who finished in a time of 29:53, which was the fastest time in nine years for a Framingham State male runner.  Since the start of the 2008 season, Duquette has dropped two minutes off his time and continues to improve.  Matt Rijk (Wayland, MA) finished in a time of 33:35.81 for the Rams and Brian Dagley finished at 36:58.11.
