Volleyball Finishes Second in MASCAC Preseason Poll

Framingham, Mass.- The Framingham State University volleyball team finished second in the 2023 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball Preseason Poll as voted upon by the MASCAC coaches. 

The Rams earned the second place finish with 44 points and three first place votes. The Rams were 6-1 in league play last season earning them the 2022 MASCAC Regular Season Title. Last season, Anna Szymanski earned MASCAC Offensive Player of the Year and her first All-Conference honors after helping the Rams to the top spot in the MASCAC Tournament. She closed out the year in the top two in the league in kills and kills per set at 350 and 3.30, respectively. She also collected 287 digs, 13 total blocks and 18 aces. 

Westfield State, who were also 6-1 last season, finished just one vote ahead of the Rams with 45 points and four first place votes. Sitting in third place is Worcester State with 37 points followed by Bridgewater State who claimed 30 points and the final first place vote. Up next in fifth is MCLA with 29 points then comes Fitchburg State is in the sixth spot with 19 points. Rounding out the 2023 poll is Salem State in seventh and Massachusetts Maritime in eighth.  

The Rams open up the 2023 campaign with a tri-match on Friday, September 1stat Babson College. The Rams will play the host Beavers at 1pm followed by Dean College at 3pm.
