Volleyball Splits with Castleton and Eastern Connecticut

Willimantic, Conn. - The Framingham State University volleyball team split a pair of matches this afternoon defeating Castleton 3-0 before falling to host Eastern Connecticut 3-0 in non-conference action at Giessler Gymnasium.

Eastern Conn. 3, Framingham State 0 (25-6, 25-13, 25-11)

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

FSU-Castleton 

  • The Rams defeated Castleton in straight sets by scores of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-14. 

  • The Rams were led on the attack in the match by 14 kills from Anna Szymanski. Syzmanski also added nine digs and two blocks. 

  • Hailey Sanders recorded double digit kills with 12 on 20 attacks for a .400 attack percentage, while Kiana Jones finished the match with five kills, three aces, two digs and four blocks. 

  • The Rams defense was paced by 12 digs from Carly Beaulieu, while Malia Shields finished with six digs.  

  • Stella Bailey added 34 set assists and two digs in the match.  

FSU-Eastern Conn. 

  • The Rams fell to the Warriors in straight sets by scores of 25-6, 25-13 and 25-11. 

  • The Rams received five kills and five digs from Szymanski against the Warriors, while Kate Petrosso and Jones chipped in with three apiece. 

  • Shield finished the match with seven digs, while Bailey finished the match with nine assists and two digs. 

  • Anna Barry led the Warriors with 20 kills on 24 attempts.

The Rams are back in action Tuesday night when they host Salem State for a MASCAC match beginning at 7 p.m.
